If so, the Athens Community Council on Aging (ACCA) is seeking a Director for its Center for Active Living (CAL) to lead innovative programs designed for older adults.

Position Overview: The Director of the Center for Active Living (CAL) is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive range of programs that promote the health, wellness, and social engagement of older adults. This role involves managing fitness classes, wellness programs, art activities, social events, and an extensive trip program for active seniors. The Director is also responsible for overseeing a community dining program for at-risk seniors. Additionally, this position plays a pivotal role in the long-term sustainability and growth of CAL by identifying opportunities for program expansion, partnership development, and financial sustainability. The Director will collaborate with the ACCA Leadership Team to ensure CAL remains a vibrant and vital community resource.
Essential Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Growth:
• Lead the strategic planning process for CAL, identifying opportunities for program growth, partnership development, and long-term sustainability.
• Analyze market trends and community feedback to ensure CAL’s offerings remain competitive and meet the evolving needs of older adults.
• Collaborate with community organizations, local businesses, and healthcare providers to enhance services and create innovative partnerships.
Program Development & Management:
• Plan, implement, and evaluate a wide range of health and wellness programs, fitness classes, art activities, and social events tailored to older adults.
• Develop innovative programs that address the physical, mental, and social well-being of seniors, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
• Lead an extensive trip program, coordinating local, regional, and international excursions for active seniors.
• Oversee the community dining program, ensuring at-risk seniors have access to nutritious meals and social support.
Staff & Volunteer Management:
• Recruit, train, and supervise staff, volunteers, and interns, fostering a positive, supportive work environment.
• Provide leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality programming and excellent customer service.
Financial Oversight & Resource Development:
• Manage the annual budget for CAL, ensuring the financial viability of all programs and services.
• Participate in grant writing, fundraising, and sponsorship efforts to support program expansion and sustainability.
• Monitor financial performance, adjusting strategies to ensure program profitability without compromising quality.
Community Engagement & Outreach:
• Actively engage with the senior community to promote CAL’s programs, including wellness initiatives, trips, and social events.
• Foster relationships with local businesses, community groups, and healthcare organizations to increase participation and expand services.
Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and health guidelines in all programs and facilities.
• Maintain accurate records for program participants, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
• Track program data and deliverables, preparing reports as needed for the agency or funders.
Essential Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, Recreation Management, Social Work, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with older adults in a community, recreation, or business setting.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and program development skills.
• Experience in budget management, business development, and grant writing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, volunteers, and community partners.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as needed.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid Georgia Driver’s License and the ability to travel locally for outreach activities.

Health and Activity Aide
The Athens Community Council on Aging is looking for a full time Health and Activity Aide to provide support and care to our Adult Day Health (ADH) members.
Adult Day Health provides a therapeutic and supportive environment for adult participants with physical or cognitive impairments, while also providing respite for family caregivers.
We have a full-time (40 hours per week) position open at our Athens location, and a part-time (20-25 hours per week) position open at our Winder location. Work hours are Monday through Friday, with NO NIGHTS or WEEKENDS.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Provide exceptional care to our members.
- Assist with the planning and leading person-centered activities.
- Provide physical support for members with personal care. This includes bathing, toileting, general hygiene, hair and nail care, eating, and walking.
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks.
- Maintain accurate and current records on clients’ meal consumption, and vital signs, and evaluate the general health condition of participants every day and report information to RN.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for participants.
- Keep all participant-related information confidential.

- Work as a member of the ADH team, providing support and coverage as needed.
- We stay busy but like to have fun! A great sense of humor is a must! This position demands comfort with public speaking and a healthy dose of silliness.
- High School diploma or equivalent. Nursing Assistant Certificate preferred. Some job-related experience working with older persons preferred.
- Strong communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to quickly establish a rapport. Ability to communicate with and engage individuals with communication limitations, including hearing loss, aphasia, and dementia.
- Ability to motivate others toward achieving goals.
- The ability to make sound decisions under pressure is required. This position works with confidential information and the ability to use sound judgment regarding this information and maintain confidentiality is required. Ability to work independently with a strong sense of focus is required as well as be task- oriented, non-judgmental with a clear sense of boundaries.
- Ability to talk, hear, and communicate with clients and caregivers and the ability to see and be able to read, write, and interpret written documents is required.
- Physical demands include occasional lifting may be heavy and awkward over 50#. Occasional lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
